History Of Central City

Central City was founded as a mining town in 1859. A prospector named John H. Gregory staked the first ming claim in Central City, and the region soon became known as the “Richest Square Mile on Earth.” By 1960 more than 100 men were arriving in Central City each day in search of gold.
